Dross press

Hot, metal-rich dross must be quickly inerted to limit metal loss. When exposed to air after removal from the furnace, an exothermic reaction begins after a few minutes, resulting in total metal loss if no precautions are taken

Our press stops this exothermic reaction and thus preserve the metal present in the dross.

The dross container is placed under the press. A punch attached to a cylinder descends onto the material and presses firmly for a few minutes to create a metal skin around the dross, preventing air from penetrating and preventing an exothermic reaction.

With the collaboration and experience of primary and secondary aluminium foundries, Dross Engineering has designed and built a dross press that is simple, efficient & economical.
