To recover battery electrolyte and to decrease PH levels in the separation system and wash water Dross Engineering has developed an automated recovery system.

Batteries are loaded onto a vibrating charger and continuously fed into a primary crusher that flattens the batteries by 50% and delivers them onto a chainmail conveyor.

Recovered electrolyte is channeled to a storage tank and the batteries are delivered to the main breaker.

Dross Engineering’s system has other advantages, by pre-crushing the batteries breaking is simplified as:

  • Less power is required (lower energy consumption)
  • Through-put is increased by 15 – 20%
  • Improves breaking of very large batteries
  • Makes electrolyte recycling possible

The installation is fabricated in stainless steel, completely enclosed and fitted with an air extractor to eliminate acid odors in the factory.
